Silicon Valley-Based Credit Union Selects ARCA for Cash Automation Solution

Star One Credit Union benefits from direct integration with ARCA’s CM18 cash recyclers

MEBANE, NC – ARCA, a global leader in transaction automation for financial institutions, announced today that Star One Credit Union has outfitted branches with ARCA’s CM18 cash recyclers. The $6.9 billion credit union will use ARCA’s cash recyclers to eliminate exposed cash in the branch, streamline cash-related processes and provide faster, more personal service to its members.

Star One cited that the direct integration capability between its teller application software and the recycler was a key component of the purchasing decision.

“I’ve been waiting for an integration with recyclers and with XP2, our host,” Sandra Moix, Vice President of Branch Services at Star One Credit Union, said. “When I read the publication from Fiserv XP that there were three companies whose recyclers were certified for the integration, I then researched them and reached out to all three. I met with each and from that process we selected ARCA.”

With the purchase of the cash recyclers, Star One will no longer have exposed cash drawers for tellers in branches. Cash is stored inside the ARCA CM18’s UL 291 safe, and the machine automatically counts, authenticates and secures cash deposited by customers. This provides the branch with reduced transaction times, improved teller accuracy, increased security and efficient control over its cash inventory.

“It’s definitely improved efficiency and security,” Moix said. “The integration with XP2 is great, making it easier for our staff. The security features give our staff piece of mind.”

Moix also touted the benefits the recycler brings in cash management.

“With the cash-in and cash-out feature, we’ve eliminated the need to go to the vault as frequently as we have been in the past. We’ve also better managed the cash we have on hand in the branch. Now we are finding that each branch maintains or has the need to have less cash in the branch than they did in the past. We could be earning interest on that cash.”

By using the latest cash automation technology and focusing on improving branch efficiency, Star One is positioning itself as a leader among credit unions in Northern California.
