Family Abuse Services of Alamance County to use items for local families

MEBANE August 9, 2016 — ARCA, the leading provider of cash solutions of any manufacturer in the world, recently donated several boxes of much-needed household and personal items, as well as children’s items, as part of their summer outreach project benefiting Family Abuse Services of Alamance County.

“Thank you for your generous donation! With your gift, we are better able to serve victims and their children,” said Skye Sullivan, Director of Community Outreach and Education at FAS. “We rely on the generosity of the community to continue offering our services.”

Each summer and winter, ARCA selects a local nonprofit and champions for fundraised materials. This summer ARCA employees collected and donated personal items and non-perishable food items to help the organization provide for the victims of domestic violence.

“It was really important to us that we contributed to an organization that benefited the local community,” said Jimmy Hayes, a member of ARCA’s Opportunity Development team. “Family Abuse Services of Alamance County does a lot to support the community at large, and much of their work is behind-the-scenes.”

Family Abuse Services of Alamance County works to prevent domestic violence and child abuse, and intervene if necessary. They do this by providing community education and interdisciplinary cooperation between agencies working with high-risk families. Last year, volunteers and interns logged nearly 3,000 hours.

“At FAS, we have a shelter in an undisclosed location in which women and children that flee domestic violence may stay in to maintain safety. Most clients flee in a moment of opportunity and are not able to bring any belongings with them,” said Sullivan. “While the shelter has funding for rent and utilities, it is the responsibility of the agency to provide food, toiletries, clothing, cleaning supplies and meet any needs clients may have.”

ARCA’s philanthropic initiatives are global, with our Italy, France and UK locations also working to help those in need.
